Learn the close-combat tactics used by Australian and U.S. Special Forces, tailored for everyday life.

A veteran of multiple combat tours with the 2nd Commando Regiment, former Sergeant Paul Cale literally rewrote the book on Special Forces Close-Quarter Fighting (CQF). Paul then created Infantry Integrated Combat (ICC), which later became the foundation for the Australian Army Combatives Program (ACP) — now the official close-combat training system for Australia’s general Army.

Kinetic Fighting is the culmination of all Paul’s work in combatives, and the name used to describe the method underpinning his military programs.

Whether you want to learn mental strategies and tactical applications to make your existing martial arts skills more effective, or you need to build effective self-protection skills from the ground up, this course is for you.

You may even want to take your first steps toward a KEF–IC black belt. KEF–IC (Kinetic Fighting–Integrated Combat) is a new program within the Australian Army that combines tactical combative skills with free sparring/rolling and the competitive elements of the Integrated Combat Clubs, which are located at Army barracks Australia-wide. As an extension of ACP, KEF–IC provides the training principles and core syllabus required to give soldiers a survival skill set, and mindset to match. Every element of KEF–IC is focused toward real combat and it is now being taught to non-military personnel for the first time in 2019.

On this course Paul will teach you battle-proven principles and survival tactics that are:

  • Adaptable to any martial art or professional operational procedure
  • Suitable for civilians & front-line operators, from beginners to professionals
  • Backed by 25+ years of career military experience & 40 years in martial arts

Day 1 – Level 1-Alpha:

Four hours of training in essential self-protection skills with Paul Cale, creator of the Australian Army Combatives Program.

In this module you will cover the key aspects of surviving a violent confrontation: mindset, tactics, legal and moral considerations, and functional, high-percentage techniques. You will also discover how KEF–IC’s battlefield origins inform everything that you learn.

Prerequisites: None – complete beginners welcome

Time: Saturday 7 September 2019, 1:00pm – 5:00pm

Day 2 – Level 2-Alpha:

Build on your Level 1-Alpha training and learn how to apply the principles of Kinetic Fighting to deal with common street weapons. You will discover not only the essential components of surviving an armed attack, but how to arm yourself — legally — for the purpose. A mix of theory and practice, these lessons will also help you hone the fundamental skill sets learned in Level 1, and integrate Kinetic Fighting’s core principles and survival strategies into your thinking.

In this module you will develop a working knowledge of the following key aspects of self-protection:

  • Behavioural threat awareness and weapon detection
  • Weapon characteristics and vulnerabilities to exploit
  • Distancing concepts specific to weapons
  • Weapon suppression and control methods
  • Legal considerations for possession and use of self-protection tools
  • Improvisation and effective use of legal tools for defence.

Prerequisites: KEF–IC Level 1-Alpha

Time: Sunday 8 September 10:00am – 2:00pm
