SUMMARY:Army Combatives Program: Knife\, Level 1 – Bowral
DESCRIPTION:This 3-hour crash course in knife awareness\, tactics and skills was designed for soldier-survival as part of the Australian Army Combatives Program used by the ADF.\nThe fact is\, most people need very little training to dramatically increase their chances of survival if confronted with a knife assault. \nTo that end\, former Commando Sergeant and creator of the Australian Army Combatives Program (ACP)\, Paul Cale\, developed this course to better equip front-line personnel with the skills to ‘survive knives’. \nThe course\, officially known as ‘ACP Clearing Knife – Level One’\, covers knife manipulation and defence techniques\, leaving you with a practical understanding of how knives are used in violent attacks\, and how to counter the prevalent assault tactics and techniques. It is essential fast-track training for those who may face knife threats in their line of work and/or living environment. \nPaul knows his stuff. He’s been a bouncer\, social worker and Special Forces soldier\, who’s been shot at\, bombed\, bloodied and assaulted with blades. He was a team leader for Australia’s top counter-terrorism unit\, TAG–East\, and has taught special operations teams around Australia. For more than a decade\, he’s also been the Army’s top Subject Matter Expert on hand-to-hand combatives. \nPaul now teaches the public because he knows this is information that society needs\, right now. And\, because he can — he’s been there\, and survived. He’s trained for the worst\, been through it\, and trained thousands of others for it\, too. \nNow it’s your turn: take the rare opportunity to train with the guy the government goes to for close-combat solutions! \nOver three info-packed hours\, you will discover professionally proven survival principles and tactics\, which are: \n\nadaptable to any martial art or professional operational procedure\nsuitable for civilians & front-line operators\, from beginners to professionals\nbacked by Cale’s 25+ years of career military experience & 45 years in martial arts and self-protection\nused and supported by people from all walks of life and a broad range of industries (find out what others think of Paul’s courses\, HERE).\n\nThe topics covered include: \n\nEdged-weapon awareness and threat detection\nCharacteristics and vulnerabilities of a blade (and its user) to exploit\nManaging distancing to protect against weapons\nWeapon control and manipulation methods\nResponding with and without a protective weapon.\n\nPrerequisites: None — beginners welcome \n\nBOOK NOW!\n  \n* If you have already completed this course\, you may attend repeat sessions for only $50; this also includes a competency assessment and grading certificate (issued upon passing the criteria). SUMMARY:Self-Protection Essentials – Melbourne
DESCRIPTION:Train in Paul Cale’s world-leading close-combat program used by Australian Special Forces & Army\, tailored for everyday self-protection.\n\n\n\nThe Personal Combatives courses in the KEF–IC syllabus use the same principles and core techniques as the Australian Army Combatives Program (ACP). The difference? You learn only what’s applicable to tackling violence as a civilian. Battlefield rules of engagement are replaced with the laws of self-defence\, and a soldier’s weapon systems are replaced with your body\, and whatever you can legally carry or find at hand. But the mindset remains the same. \nA veteran of multiple combat tours with the 2nd Commando Regiment\, former Sergeant Paul Cale literally rewrote the book on Special Forces Close-Quarter Fighting (CQF). He then created Infantry Integrated Combat (ICC)\, which later became the foundation for ACP — now the official close-combat training system for Australia’s general Army. \nKinetic Fighting is the culmination of all Cale’s work in combatives\, and the name used to describe the method underpinning his military programs. Whether you want to learn mental strategies and tactical applications to make your existing martial arts skills more effective\, or you need to build effective self-protection skills from the ground up\, this course is for you. \nYou may even want to take your first steps toward a KEF–IC black belt. KEF–IC (Kinetic Fighting–Integrated Combat) is a new program within the Australian Army that combines tactical combative skills with free sparring/rolling and the competitive elements of the Integrated Combat Clubs\, which are located at Army barracks Australia-wide. As an extension of ACP\, KEF–IC provides the training principles and core syllabus required to give soldiers a survival skill set\, and mindset to match. Every element of KEF–IC is focused toward real combat and was taught to non-military personnel for the first time in 2019. \nON THIS COURSE\, KEF–IC INSTRUCTOR AJ KEARNS WILL TEACH CALE’S BATTLE-PROVEN PRINCIPLES AND SURVIVAL TACTICS\, WHICH ARE:\n\nAdaptable to any martial art or professional operational procedure\nSuitable for civilians & front-line operators\, from beginners to professionals\nBacked by Paul Cale’s 25+ years of career military experience & 40 years in martial arts\, as well as AJ’s own extensive experience and qualifications.\n\n\n\nCOURSE DETAILS:\n\n\nIn this module (known as Alpha in the KEF–IC syllabus)\, you will cover the key aspects of surviving — and preventing — violent confrontation: mindset\, tactics\, legal and moral considerations\, and functional\, high-percentage techniques. You will also discover how KEF–IC’s battlefield origins inform everything that you learn\, and how to adapt its proven principles to your own abilities and existing skill-sets (if applicable). \nPrerequisites: None – complete beginners welcome* \n  \nBOOK NOW ONLINE! \n\n\n  \n\n* If you have previously completed either module and would like to do a refresher\, book a ‘Refresh Attendee’ ticket for only $50! (Note: no course book is provided and proof of previous course completion is required.)

Using examples from his own storied life in the military\, business and beyond\, Paul delivers a comprehensive breakdown of the principles of adaptive leadership and change-management. \n  \n \n  \nOver approximately 2.5 hours\, Paul will cover: \n\nExamples of ‘leadership from the bottom up’\, and how to lead regardless of how much or how little authority you hold\nHow to immediately increase your personal value proposition to your organisation and to authority\nDealing with the constant and rapid change that characterises our times: how to become comfortable with it and even use it to advantage\nDiscovering the power of adaptation to solve problems\, achieve success and thrive\nHow to move beyond the limitations of your technical know-how using adaptive thinking\nIdentifying the difference between technical problems and adaptive challenges\nAdaptive diagnosis: why it’s key to overcoming challenges\, and how to go about it\nHow to observe and analyse ‘patterns of life’ in your organisation and industry to provide solutions to problems and drive improvements\nUnderstanding the win/win dynamic to achieve better outcomes for yourself and your employer or partners simultaneously\nLearning how to identify and present the difference between a win/loss and a win/delayed-win proposition\nKnowing your flexibility points: what are you willing to lose or compromise in pursuit of your goal?\nHow to practise adaptive leadership without risk\nArticulating your purpose — to yourself\, and your colleagues and superiors  \nHow to engage courageously with people at all levels\, and receive and deliver feedback with confidence\nRunning experiments with business/working models and understanding the second-order effects of your actions.\n\n  \nBOOK NOW – multi-ticket discounts available\n  \n \nAbout Paul Cale:\nPaul Cale is a former Special Forces soldier\, a businessman and martial arts expert. He was responsible for the creation and implementation of the Army Combatives Program\, which is now taught to every soldier and officer that joins the Australian Army. As a result of this initiative\, which he began as a sergeant in the 2nd Commando Regiment\, Paul was also headhunted by the Australian Institute of Sport to lead its Combat Sports Centre team and establish a winning culture among athletes. The training he introduced was even sought out by Japan’s world-champion judo team (the only time they have travelled to Australia outside of an Olympic Games). \nSeeing a need for sports science to be used in support of elite specialist soldiers\, Paul then went about forging a link between the AIS and Army\, by working through the adaptive challenges that presented obstacles to success. Paul was then asked to work with other elite teams from cycling\, basketball and water polo\, before consulting for the CEOs of a major bank and IT company. \nPaul has since developed several successful private businesses serving the defence\, government and professional sectors\, with a focus on training and security. He recently attended Harvard University to continue his leadership training\, and hone his skills in developing leadership in others.
