Annual KEF–IC Instructors’ Course & Awards Dinner

February 12, 2022 @ 8:00 am - February 13, 2022 @ 6:00 pm

Australian Army Combatives program: Kinetic Fighting grappling training

Complete your KEF–IC instructor training alongside instructors of the Australian Army Combatives Program (ACP), and network with the team at the KEF–IC Awards Dinner!

This Kinetic Fighting–Integrated Combat Instructors’ Course enables KEF–IC instructors-in-training to practise with ACP-qualified Australian soldiers and to teach others over two days. In addition to qualification training and up-skilling, the weekend also includes the newest KEF–IC course, Home Defence & Intruder Response (‘Hotel’ module). This is included with any fully paid course ticket or can be done on its own (book via Moshtix).

Every course booking also includes a seat at the KEF Awards Dinner on the Saturday night, with fine food, drinks and entertainment (priced at $200 per head for those without a fully paid course ticket, and for partners).

Basic, Army-style accommodation at KEF HQ is also included for the Friday and Saturday nights, but is not compulsory.

Course Details:

At the High Fidelity Training Centre, Brisbane (the new home of Kinetic Fighting, inside Screen Queensland Studios), you will take a deep dive into the application of KEF concepts. You’ll refine your skills and learn to teach the material hands-on, while being mentored by KEF’s highly experienced Combatives Master Trainers (CMTs) and Army Combatives Program (ACP) instructors. As part of the learning and qualification process, your lesson delivery will be evaluated by both the CMTs and fellow trainees, including currently licensed KEF–IC Instructors.

Already qualified instructors who attend will be tested (and upgraded upon passing) to teach the next module in the syllabus above their current teaching qualification.

Heading up the coaching will be Paul Cale — KEF–IC/ACP creator, Australian Defence Force Martial Arts Association (ADFMAA) Head Coach and former Commando Sergeant. He will be joined by ADFMAA Vice President and current Sergeant Major of the Combatives Centre, WO2 Aaron Johnston, and KEF–IC/ACP Combatives Master Trainers.

+ Awards Dinner

Your course booking includes a seat at the KEF–IC/ACP Awards Dinner on the Saturday night, with three-course meal, drinks and entertainment. (If you’d like to bring a partner or friends, extra dinner tickets can be purchased via the course booking website.)

+ Instructor’s Starter Pack

The cost of the course also covers a 12-month teaching license and, for first-time instructors,  two KEF–IC Instructor T-shirts and 10 free course books for your future students.*

Eligibility & Preparation

If you have prior teaching experience and have completed the KEF–IC Tan Level modules Alpha and Bravo, you may be ready to complete certification on the course for ‘Interim Instructor’ status. (Contact us to discuss your eligibility.) This will enable you to teach ‘Self-Protection Essentials – Alpha’.*

If you hold a KEF–IC Grey Belt (or a higher rank) by 4 February, you will be eligible to complete the instructor modules for both Alpha and Bravo. However, if you have already completed all five Tan Level modules required to test for Grey Level (Alpha, Bravo, Charlie, Delta and Echo) but haven’t yet been graded, you can undertake your Grey Belt qualification test on Sunday 28 November 2021 at HFT to confirm your eligibility to complete the Alpha/Bravo instructor modules on the Instructors’ Course.

Those who qualify as KEF–IC Instructors will then have an opportunity to be tested and qualified to teach further modules on the next instructors’ course in mid-2022.

For those wanting an opportunity to complete and/or revise the Tan Level material before the course, there is an Echo module course currently scheduled at HFT for November 27 . There are no Alpha, Bravo Charlie or Delta courses scheduled at HFT before February 2022; however, requirements for this training may be met by some of our Licensed KEF–IC Instructors. Contact them directly to enquire.

This rare opportunity for critical skill-enhancement and coaching development at ACP/KEF–IC headquarters also offers an opportunity to network with fellow instructors, and to partake in unique aspects of Australian military culture. But it is limited to 20 people, so don’t miss out! Secure your place now by contacting KEF to establish your eligibility; if able to meet the requirements, you can book with a 50% deposit and pay the balance by 4 February.

* Note: Instructor certification will not be offered to those who do not meet the required standard of KEF–IC skill and knowledge at the completion of the course. Certified instructors can only begin teaching after submission of a completed KEF–IC instructor license agreement (provided by KEF post-course) and supply of a current public-liability insurance certificate.
